ARTADI VIÑA EL PISÓN 1998.
I bought this bottle in 2002 and when it was twelve I think that could be the moment, yeah!
The color is deep and opaque (normally it is not a good sign for me, but…), with a high PH border (Tempranillo)… UF!
The first smell is already powerfull and intense, but tight. After some aireation the wine begins to show a wonderfull cotalogue of red andblack fruits, some rose and evident meat, also hints of smoke, earth and creamy barrel aromas (but nice and well integrated). It seems a row steak with some fruit stew, but not in a bad sense.
It tastes intense and rich, sappy and fresh (fresh!)… It is more refined that it seems at the beginning. Full bodied, aromatic, long and without fatness… Not bad!
Some hours after (we drank it with steak and vegetables (permitted ones!)) develops to a more sexy and refined, loosing the thaugness but keeping the aromas and young sensation. Bravo!
The most amazing of this wine is its youngness. The aromas, the mouthfeel, etc. All is in good balance. It is not a sublte and refined wine but in its character is very good.
